2021 US Open Predictions

The PGA Tour heats up at Torrey Pines this week with the 2021 US Open. Read on below to see my prediction for who will win the tournament, as well as my predictions for who will finish in the top 10, my dark horse, and my player to fade.

Winner: Collin Morikawa- Morikawa has been playing great golf of late, finishing in the top 20 in 5 of his last 6 starts, including a runner up finish in the Memorial Tournament 2 weeks ago. Morikawa is first in Strokes Gained: Approach The Green and Strokes Gained: Tee-To-Green, as well as 8th in Strokes Gained: Total. It takes great ball striking to make your away around Torrey Pines and Morikawa is as good as they come, which is why I predict a victory for Collin Morikawa in the US Open!

Top 10: Patrick Reed- Reed has been playing solidly this season, with 6 top 10’s and 12 made cuts in 16 starts, including a win in the Farmers Insurance Open here earlier this year. Reed has played quite well at Torrey Pines in his career, with 5 made cuts and 3 top 15 finishes in 6 career starts at the course. A threat to win any time he tees it up, Reed will be in the top 10 by week’s end.

Dark Horse: Charley Hoffman- Hoffman has been having a stellar season, with 5 top 10’s and 20 made cuts in 24 starts. Hoffman has made the cut in each of the last 12 starts and has been playing some of his most consistent golf to date. With his recent form, a top 25 finish is not out of the question this week.

Player to Fade: Fabian Gomez- Gomez has had a rough go of it this season, making only 4 cuts in 17 starts. Gomez has had little success at Torrey Pines as well, making the cut just 1 time in 8 career starts. All this adds up to a missed cut for Fabian Gomez.
