The NASCAR Cup Series continues today with the Buschy McBusch Race 400 at Kansas Speedway. Read on below to see my prediction for who will win the race, as well as my top 10, dark horse, and driver to fade predictions.
Winner: Martin Truex Jr.- Truex has always been the man to beat on mile and a half tracks and 2021 has been no exception, with Truex winning at Phoenix and finishing in the top 10 at Las Vegas, Atlanta, and Homestead-Miami. Truex has raced well here of late, finishing in the top 10 in 7 of his last 8 starts, including 2 wins and 5 top 5’s. I believe Truex will find victory lane today for the third time this season.
Top 10: William Byron- After bad finishes in his first two races, Byron has finished in the top 10 in each of his last 8 starts, including a win at Homestead-Miami. Like Truex, Byron has raced well on mile and a half tracks this year, finishing in 8th at Las Vegas, Phoenix, and Atlanta to go along with his Homestead-Miami win. All this points to a 9th consecutive top 10 finish for Byron today.
Dark horse: Austin Dillon- Dillon continues to put together a nice season, with 6 top 12 finishes on the year so far, including back to back top 10 finishes. Dillon has finished inside the top 20 at Kansas in 9 of his last 10 starts, including a pair of 6th place finishes and a pair of 11th place finishes. Dillon starts in 6th today and I believe he will put together another quality start. I think a top 15 finish is certainly within reach.
Driver to fade: Ryan Newman- Kansas Speedway has not been kind to Newman, as he has finished outside the top 20 each of the last 4 races and in 7 of his last 8 starts. I believe his struggles will continue today and he will finish outside the top 20 again.
