2025 Barracuda Championship Predictions

This is always a unique and fun event opposite of the Open Championship. What makes it unique is the scoring style the PGA Tour uses. This is a stableford scoring system, meaning you earn points for every birdie, par, etc. Obviously, the more birdies you make, the better off you’ll be, but this scoring system makes it highly entertaining to watch. The field is filled with many newcomers and young guns looking to make a name, but the one big name to watch for is Max Homa. This tournament will be held at Tahoe Mountain Club (Old Greenwood), and plays as a par 71, at almost 7,500 yards when tipped out. Look for somebody to make a name for themselves this weekend!

Player to Fade:

Adam Svensson has not popped up on many leaderboards as of late. He doesn’t have a top 10 this year, and he’s missed three of his last four cuts. I predict that theme to continue this weekend because if you’re not making birdies, you’ll be getting lapped.

Dark Horse:

Luke List hasn’t had a great year, but he’s coming off his first top 10 of the year, and I think he can build off that momentum this weekend. The putter normally lets Luke down, but he gained strokes last week. It was his off the tee game that hurt him. I predict that will change and you will see Luke pop up on another leaderboard this weekend!

Top 10:

You may be asking who the heck this guy is, but he’s quietly had a very solid last two events. Patrick Fishburn had a top 20 at the John Deere, and he was 6th at the ISCO Championship. The reason for his recent success has been the putter. He’s been gaining strokes on the field over the last two events. If his ball striking shows up this week, you can expect him to get a top 10, and maybe even get the win!

Winner:

I really want to see this guy back in the winners circle. You can tell how hard he’s been working to get back to the player he once was, and I have a lot of respect for him. Max Homa’s coming off his best finish of the year at the John Deere. He’s been gaining strokes in most categories, but his around the green game has been rough. He’s been losing strokes consistently in this category, and that needs to change if he wants to win. This seems like his best chance with the games’ best across the pond playing in the Open Championship. I’ve got a feeling Max will be in the mix and with his experience, get the win!
