2024 Sanderson Farms Championship Predictions

This week will see the PGA Tour make their stop at The Country Club of Jackson in Mississippi. The course is a par 72 and stretches out to over 7,400 yards. This country club has very small greens, so I am looking for golfers that are accurate on their approach and can make some putts. A lot of the games’ “stars” are absent this week, but this gives the opportunity for somebody new to burst onto the scene. These weeks are always fun because we get to learn about a lot of new players and see what they are made of.

Be honest. You are not sure who this person is. Wilson Fur was able to earn his tour card after being on the Korn Ferry Tour. He hasn’t had much success on the PGA Tour though. He has missed 4/5 of his last cuts and I expect that trend to continue this week. Except for his last tournament, he has consistently lost strokes in every major category. If that continues, you will not see him around for the weekend.

Dark Horse:

Matt Kuchar started to climb the leaderboards a bit during the PGA Tour last season. He may be up there in age, but I believe his game has been trending in the right direction. He hasn’t finished worse than 13th in his last three tournaments, and I believe he will ride that good form into this weekend with all the games’ top stars sitting at home. He has been gaining strokes on approach over the last few events, and if that continues with a hot putter this weekend, I could see him on the leaderboard Sunday.

Top 10:

Keith Mitchell busted onto the tour many years ago, and has had a solid career over time. He still remains a very solid ball striker, but the putter continues to be his nemesis on the weekend. He is coming off two top 12’s in his last two events, and seems to be playing some good golf right now. His off the tee game remains very strong, and if he can be in the positives when it comes to putting, I would expect Keith to have a chance to win this weekend!

Coming off his recent play in the Presidents Cup, I wanted to choose somebody that I know has been working hard on their game recently with the new season being so fresh. Mackenzie Hughes was on the losing side this past weekend, but he did finish 4th place in his last event. He gained 1.48 strokes on approach at his last event, and if his putter heats up, like it normally does, I expect him to bring the win home!
