2023 RBC Canadian Open Predictions

O Canada! The PGA Tour takes over Oakdale Golf & Country Club in Toronto this week for the RBC Canadian Open. We note it will be interesting to see if there will be any impact from the Ontario wildfires on the tournament.

Callum Tarren has not had a good season on the Tour. He’s missed the cut in 10 of his last 12 appearances. We predict another missed cut is in the works this week.

Dark Horse:

JACKSON, MISSISSIPPI – OCTOBER 02: Mackenzie Hughes of Canada reacts after putting in to win on the second playoff hole against Sepp Straka of Austria on the 18th green during the final round of the Sanderson Farms Championship at The Country Club of Jackson on October 02, 2022 in Jackson, Mississippi. Mackenzie Hughes has had a rough go of it as of late, missing the cut in four out of his last five tournaments. Again, Hughes will have the motivation of playing in his home country this weekend, and that is a powerful thing. A Top 20 finish for Hughes should be within reach.

Top 10:

For obvious reasons, Corey Conners will be motivated this week. A native of Canada, this event likely means a lot to him. In his two appearances in May, Conners finished T8 and T12, showing solid play in both the Wells Fargo and PGA Championship. A Top 10 finish is likely this week.

Winner:

Rory McIlroy is far and away the favorite to win this week, and for good reason. His quality play of late has him lined up for a great weekend at Oakdale. We predict McIlroy will defend his title and take the Canadian!
