2022 The Honda Classic Predictions

The PGA Tour continues this week as it visits the PGA National Champion Course for the 2022 The Honda Classic. Read on below to see my prediction for who will win the tournament, as well as my predictions for who will finish in the top 10, my dark horse, and my player to fade.

Winner: Keith Mitchell- Mitchell’s game has really turned a corner the past few months, with 4 top 12 finishes in his last 5 starts. Mitchell won The Honda Classic in 2019, but has 2 missed cuts and a T-53 finish here in his other 3 starts. Mitchell’s game has been pretty solid all-around this season, as he ranks 15th in Strokes Gained: Tee-To-Green and 16th in Strokes Gained: Total. I predict that Mitchell will continue his recent success and bring home his second career victory on Sunday!

Top 10: Sungjae Im- Winner of the 2020 The Honda Classic, Im is having a stellar season, wining the Shriners Children’s Open and having 6 top 20 finishes in 9 starts so far. Im has finished in the top 10 in The Honda Classic each of the last two years and is a threat to win anytime he tees it up. Im is ranked 7th in Strokes Gained: Tee-To-Green and 4th in Strokes Gained: Total this season and his game is cranking on all cylinders. Im will most certainly be in the hunt for a W on Sunday, but a top 10 is a guarantee.

Dark Horse: Greyson Sigg- Sigg has quietly been putting together a solid 2021-2022 campaign, with 6 top 35 finishes to go against just 3 missed cuts in 11 starts. Making his first start in this event, Sigg shows some potential, coming into the week ranked 31st in Scrambling. At a course like the PGA National Champion Course, you’re going to miss some greens and your short game needs to be sharp. Sigg’s short game is in good shape and I predict that he can continue his stretch of solid play and bring home another top 35 finish.

Player to Fade: Alan Morin- Morin, the Assistant PGA Professional at The Club at Ibis, is the local favorite this week, as he makes his home in Royal Palm Beach. Nonetheless, Morin’s results in this tournament are pretty poor, as he has missed the cut in 6 of his 8 starts in The Honda Classic and has not made a cut in this event since 2008. The PGA National Champion Course brings out every little flaw in your game if you aren’t playing your best and I expect that Morin will struggle and miss the cut this week.
