2021 Palmetto Championship at Congaree Golf Club Predictions

The PGA Tour continues on this week with the 2021 Palmetto Championship at Congaree Golf Club. Read on below to see my prediction for who will win the tournament, as well as my predictions for who will finish in the top 10, my dark horse, and my player to fade.

Winner: Tyrrell Hatton- Hatton has had a quiet year so far, with 3 top 10’s and 11 made cuts in 14 starts. He may not be lighting up the leaderboards week in and week out, but his stats speak for themselves, as he is inside the top 30 in Strokes Gained: Off-The-Tee, Approach The Green, Tee-To-Green, and Total. In a relatively weak field, I predict a victory for Tyrrell Hatton.

PALM BEACH GARDENS, FL – FEBRUARY 22: Lucas Glover of the United States plays his second shot on the 10th hole during the first round of the 2018 Honda Classic on The Champions Course at PGA National on February 22, 2018 in Palm Beach Gardens, Florida. (Photo by David Cannon/Getty Images)

Top 10: Lucas Glover- Glover has put together a nice stretch of golf of late, making the cut in 9 of his last 11 starts, including 3 top 20 results. Glover has a veteran mindset in a brand new event and I believe his consistent play will bring Glover a top 10 at week’s end.

Dark Horse: Vincent Whaley- Whaley has quietly been on a heater this season, making the cut in each of his last 10 starts and finishing in the top 30 in 7 of those starts. Whaley’s stats don’t particularly jump off the page, but one stat of note is that he is 100% on putts made inside of 3 feet all season. Whaley can make the short putts when they count and I believe that stat alone will vault Whaley to a second consecutive top 20 finish.

Player to Fade: Shawn Stefani- Stefani has been in quite the slump, missing the cut in each PGA Tour event he has teed it up in this season and has not made a cut since the 2020 Puerto Rico Open. When you’re cold, you’re cold, which is why Shawn Stefani will miss the cut this week.
